Networked Knowledge - Media Report[This edited version of the report has been prepared by Dr Robert N Moles]
USA homepage On 29 February 2008 United Press International reported “Woman wrongly convicted of murder freed”. Buffalo NY: Dismissal of a murder indictment against her mother renews questions about how a Buffalo NY teen died 14 years ago, officials said. New York's high court dismissed the criminal case against Lynn DeJac, who served 13 years after being convicted for the death of her daughter, Crystallynn Girard, who was 13 when she died, the Buffalo News reported Friday. In a case that made headlines and played out before the public up to and during DeJac's trial, attorneys for both sides agree that the cause of her daughter's death may never be known. "I think it's more confusing now than it ever was, and I don't think we'll ever get a definitive answer," said Andrew C. LoTempio, DeJac's defense attorney, told the News. District Attorney Frank J. Clark said two weeks ago he was seeking to have the indictment against DeJac dismissed, mainly because forensic pathologists determined the teen died from cocaine intoxication, not strangulation
