On 26 March 2008 the Sydney Morning Herald reported “DNA busts five-year-old case”.

It said that DNA technology has led to the arrest of a man over a Sydney robbery committed more than five years ago. Crime scene forensic testing of clothing found after the service station robbery led to the breakthrough. Police say that back in March 2003 a man entered a Revesby service station in Sydney's south-west, threatened an employee with a knife and demanded money. The robber fled with cash and nobody was injured.

Investigators later took clothing from the crime scene for forensic testing and in late 2007 detectives linked a man to DNA found on the clothing. After more investigations, a 23-year-old man on Tuesday presented himself to Bankstown Police Station and was interviewed. He was later charged with armed robbery and is due to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday
